Capon Bridge 2009 - Confederate Memorial Day
An untitled poem by Pvt. Kris Smith
Fresh dug graves; fog hanging low.
Death march soldier, march on slow.
Silence your thoughts; bow your head,
Honor them soldier, honor your dead.
Families mourning; tearful goodbyes
Don’t look soldier, drop your eyes.
Sons and brothers, dead and gone
Look on soldier, just look on.
“Rest on arms” a simple command.
Steady now soldier, hand over hand.
Names read aloud; mournful bugle call.
Remember them soldier, remember them all.

Long night in Capon Bridge boys? What lunch and a march will make you do!
